“I know a good wife should let her husband touch her so when my husband touches me, I pretend not to notice.”
In Norway in the 1970s a doctor told a lesbian, "You have the eyes of a woman who wants to have sexual intercourse with her husband." 'Touch Therapy' is based on the haunting true story of Lotta, a lesbian in a heterosexual marriage who is forced to undergo a new form of invasive corrective therapy to 'fix' her. The therapy is little more than a medically sanctioned form of rape. Lotta must fight the brutal medical advice of her doctor and the cloying embraces of her husband to tell her story.

Audience reviews:
This was my favourite theatre show this fringe. The script was honest and original. Would recommend this highly.
A painful truth expertly played.
First class acting in "Touch Therapy" at Paradise in the Vault. Powerful theatre.

TOUCH THERAPY
Praise for Touch Therapy

It’s a brave take on an old problem – this business of refusing to conform to the hetero-norm, and an important piece of social history based on a true story that has been dramatised by the young and capable cast.

It is shocking to realise that this happened such a short time ago in a country widely regarded as liberal.
Written on Sand - Review blog pithy, hard-hitting drama Touch Therapy is a retelling of a true story, powerfully executed.
