SPRING AWAKENING

"Where I go, when I go there no more shadows anymore only you there in the kiss."
In a provincial German village in the 1890s, 14 year old Wendla asks her mother where babies come from. She is told she must simply love her husband very much. Meanwhile Moritz dreams of stocking clad legs and starts to think he is going mad. In a climate where sex is not talked about, a group of teenagers must navigate the uncertainties of sexual awakenings, the excitement, the fear, the unknown. With a catchy alt rock score, the musical is at times incredibly funny, at times unsettling and at others achingly sad.

“Such themes (sexual abuse, academic perfect and double standards) are most effective when dealt with bold determination and Brown’s direction certainly demonstrates this.” Oxford Student
“Spring Awakening proved an entertaining and thought-provoking performance… the production cannot but be described as ‘powerful’.” Oxford Culture Review
